Did you grow up in a small town and get to have those small town holidays and parades? I am from the South, heart and soul, that being said I grew up in New Hampshire and loved it there! My favorite part of the year was the summer! Every summer was spent on the lake in my small town of Gilmanton Iron Works. One of the best times of the summer was the Fourth of July! We would have one of those fun and classic small town America parades with firetrucks and animals, clubs, American flags everywhere. After the parade everyone would end up out on the lake to watch the fireworks. There would be snacks and desserts galore! These apple blondies were made for the Fourth of July!
Apples: We suggest using a tart apple, like Granny Smith, it will help with the sweetness. If you do use a sweeter apple, I like to squeeze a couple teaspoons of lemon juice onto them before adding them to the batter.
Butter: Using melted butter helps to ensure the gooeyness of the blondie. I also use salted butter in mine too, for that little extra boost.
Brown Sugar: Light brown sugar is perfect for flavor and texture. Dark brown sugar is a little too heavy. Creaming the melted butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy helps ensure that they are not too dense and everything is well mixed before adding the egg. Deepens the flavor.
Spices: We used cinnamon, nutmeg, ground, and ground cloves to ensure those nice warm flavors but you can always add less or more or something a little different if you want!
Vanilla: Pure vanilla extract is best for these delicious blondies. I like to use my homemade vanilla or mexican vanilla extract, it has an almost caramel, smooth flavor.
Delicious warm apple blondies drizzled with a spiced glaze for a super quick and easy dessert, perfect for fall or summer. Warm spices, fresh apples, with a chewy center.
